Summary:Extract: The vegetable budgets in this publication are designed to be used as a farm planning guide in estimating the individual producer's costs and returns for selected vegetable enterprises. certain assumptions must be made when developing enterprise budgets. management levels, prices received, prices paid, fertilization and cultural practices represent some of the most critical assumptions. the enterprise budgets represent what we believe to be production practices and reasonably attainable yields for commercial vegetable producers in South Carolina. the input levels in the budgets are not recommendations for a particular crop but represent the general South Carolina recommendations for fertilizer and chemical rates. each budget contains tables of the monthly summary of returns and expenses, machinery requirements by months, machinery labor requirements by months, machinery fixed and variable costs per hour, and cost per acre and per time over for the machinery and equipment.
