8,16-dihyroxyhexadecanoic acid, a major component from cucumber cutin

The major component of cucumber (Cucumis sativus) cutin has been identified as 8,16-dihydroxyhexadecanoic acid by mass and NMR spectroscopy. This is the first report of this monomer as a major cutin component.
