Summary: | Only farm size was significantly related to this aspect of attitude. The farmers with small size of land holding would practice every stages more than those with large size. When considering the actual practice of the farmers after observing the demonstration, most farmers practiced only parly of all demonstrated stages. The stage that the farmers practiced most was land preparation. Only farm size factor that was significantly related to the practices of innovations. The farmers with small farm size practised all of the stage more than those will large farm size. the farmers also mentioned 4 factors that influenced their decision-making to adoptagricultural technology. Price is the primary factor and the others are credits, market and labor respectively. For the attitude of farmers to the Cropping System Project, it is found out that most farmers awared of the project. They fell that this project served their needs especially the advice of new varieties. The project was beneficial for their farming. The farmers' attitudes of each village vary according to each of the cropping pattern. Farmers in one village might favor one crop pattern but others might do the other patterns due to not only geographical but also socio-economic factors of each village such as soil fertility, soil humidity, type of land, price and market of agricultural production. In the upper paddy area, most farmers viewed that both field crops before rice and/or field crops after rice, and late monocropping of field crops were suitable because it did not have any effect on the time of rice planting and the rice yields. Accordingly, they disapproved of the double cropping of field crops. For the lowland paddy area, most farmers mentioned that the proposed cropping pattern-the field crops before rice and/or field crops after rice-was not suitable for growing on this type of land. |
