Strain selection of straw mushroom (Volvariella volvacea) by monospore culture method

The selected isolates were inoculated to the compost for seven passages and recultivated in compost again. Isolates 2-80 and 2-88 formed primordia while isolate 2-55 did not. Summary:The selected isolates were inoculated to the compost for seven passages and recultivated in compost again. Isolates 2-80 and 2-88 formed primordia while isolate 2-55 did not. Productivity of isolates 2-80 and 2-88 were reconfirmed in straw blocks in comparison with isolate 17 from Department of Agriculture and a strain from the commercial spawn. Yields of isolates 2-80 and 2-88 were 20 % and 21 % of dry straw weight respectively. There were no significant differences among isolates tested. The isolates 2-80 and 2-88 which were obtained from monospore culture method were stable and gave high productivity without degeneration even after seventh passage in compost.
