Morphology of tomour cells in marek's disease and lymphoid leukosis disease

Summary:Forty, one week-old chickens (P-1 strain of chickens) free from Marek's disease immune were inoculated intraperitoneally with Marek's disease virus (GA strain), 5000 PFU/0.1 ml. for the study on morphology of tomour nodules and microscopic lesion of tomour cells. Diffused small foci of lymphoma (diameter 0.1-1.0 cm.) occurred in liver, kidney, lung, intestine, proventriculus, bursa of Fabricius and brain after two weeks of injection. Small foci of lymphoma developed well in those organs and occurred more in cardiac muscle on the third week, tomour nodules (diameter 0.5-4.0 cm.), and mile yellow color developed well in those organs. Microscopic lesion of tomour were consisting of masses of proliferating lymphoblastic cells and pleomorphic, with very basophilic and light to moderate infiltration by small lymphocytes and plasma cells and macrophages, a lot of debris cells were found in the large tomour nodules. Six , one month-old chickens free from LLD immune were inoculated S/C for 2 chickens, I/M for 2 chickens , I/V for 2 chickens with AVL which from cell line LSCC-BKC, 1-2*10**(6 ) / ml , for the study on morphology of tomour nodules and microscopic lesion of tomour cells. Diffuse tomour nodules (diameter 2 mm.) were found in the liver tissue , 5-6 tomour nodules (diameter 4-6 mm ) in the proventiculus and 5-6 tomour nodules (diameter 1-5mm) were found in the kidneys, they were cream colour.LL tomour consist of aggregates of large lymphoid cells that may very slightly in size but are all at the same primitive developmental stage. They have a poorly defined cytoplasmic membrane, much basophilic cytoplasm, and a vesicular nucleus in which there is margination and clumping of the chromatin and one or more conspicuous acidophilic nucleoli.
