Summary: | Avian leukosis virus subgroup J (ALV-J) is a relatively new virus which causes myeloid leukosis (ML) in broiler. Several male and female broiler chickens were submitted to the KPS-Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. Lesions of ML were seen in several organs and tissues of these chickens such as liver, spleen, kidney, pectoral muscle, subcutaneous tissue and pericardial sac. The ML cells were immature granulated myelocyte. ALV-J was confirmed as a causative agent of the lesions by using reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). |
