Summary:The article aims at the evaluation of the content and time trends of hexachlorobenzene (HCB) contamination in staple foods and raw materials in the Slovak Republic. Results of analyzes of the contents of HCB are presented, which are carried out in the Slovak Republic since 1985. Average findings of HCB in selected commodities were judged in comparison to maximum permitted levels of HCB for individual commodities. The analyzed samples originated in agricultural farms, food industry, retail stores and household. From the results HCB contents analyzes, if can be concluded that average HCB findings are low. During the entire evaluated period, only 0.13 % of samples were overlimitted in HCB contents, as represented by 42 out of 32 105 analyzed sample.
