Summary:Contents of toxic and essential elements in lactic acid and in the stock of a sodium lactate production were studied by GF-AAS and AAS on flame. Low contents of lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, nickel, cobalt, manganese, tin and aluminium in lactic acid, and a relatively high content of chromium (2.11 mg.kg-1) were determined. Contents of essential elements (calcium, magnesia, potassium, iron, zinc, copper) were low, too. In a stock of sodium lactate production, highest levels of the followed elements were determined in the yeast autolysate, but they did not affect the level of these elements in the product
