Summary: | Agricultural and food-processing production has an important position during transition to the market economy as well as in a period of preparation to join the European structures. The basic task of agrofood complex is to ensure healthy foodstuffs at certain level of self-sufficiency and price accessibility. Foodstuff consumption is influenced by price and purchasing power of inhabitants. Consumer prices are increasing and consumption of basic foods has declined. Comparison of household expenditures on consumption of foods, drinks and tobacco reveals that CEFTA countries' share of expenditure on foodstuffs is greater than that of EU countries |
