Summary:The study represents a review of arsenic levels, determined by atomic absorption spectrometry in cereals, vegetables and fruits, within coordinated aimed monitoring in 1993-1996. The total number of analyzed samples was 1504, including 905 samples with no detectable arsenic levels, i.e. with arsenic contents under the detectable limits (0.005 mg As per kg for vegetables and fruits, 0.010 mg As per kg for cereals). In all samples, the arsenic contents were lower than maximum limit values. The arsenic level in cereals has been reduced since 1993. In vegetables and fruits, the arsenic levels have been low and nearly stabilized within the reviewed period
