Genetic determination of a nodule-stimulated aspartate aminotransferase (AAT-2) isozyme in pea (Pisum sativum L.)

The aspartate aminotransferase-2 isozyme in pea (AAT-2), whose synthesis increased in symbiotic nodules that are developing, was studied. Polymorphism of pea forms was revealed according to electrophoretic mobility of AAT-2. Cross of pea lines, which contrast in this trait, and analysis of the F2 ge...

Summary:The aspartate aminotransferase-2 isozyme in pea (AAT-2), whose synthesis increased in symbiotic nodules that are developing, was studied. Polymorphism of pea forms was revealed according to electrophoretic mobility of AAT-2. Cross of pea lines, which contrast in this trait, and analysis of the F2 generation showed monogenic control of the synthesis of AAT-2 isoforms. Data of genetic analysis demonstrates that the gene encoding AAT-2 is located in linkage group I, and its position coincides with the location of the gene Aat-p which encodes the plastid from of an enzyme. This data allows us to make a conclusion about the plastid location of the AAT-2 isozyme
