Heredity of fertility traits in progeny test of Holstein-Friesian bulls

Estimation of additive genetic value in relation on total phenotypic value of fertility traits is very important for breeding value estimation of bull-sires. Summary:Estimation of additive genetic value in relation on total phenotypic value of fertility traits is very important for breeding value estimation of bull-sires. Heritabilities of traits were calculated using the sample of 7024 calves. They were progenies of 51 bull-sires which were raised on 14 farms during 6 years. Heritabilities coefficients were 0.225 for type of calving; 0.027 for mortality of calves; 0.102 for body weight of calves, and 0.214 for duration of pregnancy.
