In Maize Research Institute Zemun Polje, Belgrade - Zemun (Serbia) every commercial hybrid is converted to both cms-C and cms-S, and the one that performs better (both, if posssible) is subsequently used in the field. When using cms, it is important to take account several factors. Because of these factors, every single combination that can be potentially used for seed production using cms must beforehand be tested to assure its suitability for this purpose. The use of cms makes maize hybrids seed production cheaper, high quality, and safer, that is why it is advantageous to use it as much as possible, and investigate new and/or improve existing techniques for easy implementation of cms in production of all important agronomic plants.
