Summary:Propionic acid (Luprosil) produced by BASF was used at levels of 0.5-2.0 percent in order to study its effects on the preservation of ear corn and corn cobs. The experimental variants were made under conditions of aerobiosis (storage) and anaerobiosis (ensiling). The influence of moisture of silo temperature and of level of Luprosil addition on the quality of the forage are presented. The addition of 1 percent propionic acid (Luprosil) ensures a good preservation of the stored high moisture ear corn. The ensiling of ear corn cobs as paste also ensures the same results provided that proper levels of propionic acid (Luprosil) are added
