Summary: | The new corn hybrid Fundulea 376 registered in 1990 for South and West of Romania is the result of long breeding activity directed to high stable yield and high quality under different environments. This hybrid has been tested in 1987-1990 under nonirrigated and irrigated six locations. The climatic conditions were severe (drought and heat have been present for a long period). The most unfavourable climatical conditions were in south-western Romania. The new registered hybrid demonstrated the high yielding ability under both conditions, irrigated and nonirigated. Under normal climatical conditions Fundulea 376 gave a 15 average, increase of yield in nonirrigated land and 13 in irrigated compared to Fundulea 378 and Pioneer 3747. Under drought and heat conditions at Simnicu-Craiova and Teleorman Fundulea 376 gave an increase of 67-70 in comparison to Fundulea 378 considered to be drought resistant. This hybrid is resistant to stalk and ear rot infections produced by Fusarium moniliforme and Fusarium graminearum under artificial and natural infections. It has a high resistance to Heminthosporium turcicum under artificial and natural infections. The drying rate of kernels at maturity is high. |
