Research on planting date, density and growth control in tomatoes grown in greenhouses with limited heating

During three years of experiments (1986-1988), the influence of planting date, plant spacing and control systems of the number of inflorescences/plant was tested on two Romanian tomato hybrids (Gloria F1, and Getina F1). The planting date was delayed with the purpose of saving energy. In greenhouses...

Summary:During three years of experiments (1986-1988), the influence of planting date, plant spacing and control systems of the number of inflorescences/plant was tested on two Romanian tomato hybrids (Gloria F1, and Getina F1). The planting date was delayed with the purpose of saving energy. In greenhouses with limited heating, the best yield and economic results were obtained with Gloria F1, when planted on February 10-15, with an average spacing of 41,000 plants/ha, and plant growth limited to six inflorescences
