Summary: | Minute amounts of growth regulators (2.5 to 10 mg/tree) were applied once to the root collars of apple trees cvs Shampion, Paulared and Lobo. Changes were observed during 4 years in the growth and fruiting of the treated trees though each cultivar was affected in a different way. The diversity in reactions of the 3 cultivars to applied growth regulators seems to result from: 1) various hormone patterns and/or gibberellin metabolism manifested by specific growth habit of each cultivar; 2) inadequate amount of compounds for the trees differentiated in size, growth viour and age |
