Summary:Effect of reagents amount and ethanol concentration in the sample, as well as temperature and time of keeping in a thermostat on the determination of methanol (MeOH), was investigated. Possibility of reducing by 50 percent chromotropic acid amount without necessity of modifying the amount of other reagents and the volume of investigated sample, was noted. Holding the sample at 60 degrees C for 10 min. was found to ensure the development of colour reaction and the proper run of MeOH determination. Possibility of MeOH assay in non-ethanolic solutions and with 10 percent content of ethanol and without prior adjustment to 5 percent content of this component, was also noted. It was further found that fluids containing not large amount of ethanol (up to 1 percent) should not be considered to be non-alcoholic because this increases much the error of the method
