Summary:Regenerated track links often undergo craking during exploitation. This paper considers the reasons of brittle failure of track links. Investigations of the chemical composition, structure and hardness of the cast steel showed that it was Hadfield cast steel with structure of austenite with brittle grain boundary precipitates. As a result of this study it is evident that brittleness of track links under dynamic loading is caused by wrong process of regeneration
