Summary:The investigations were carried out in the years 1977-85 on 75 bulls of Black-and-White breed and 46 bulls of Red-and-White breed from the Animal Breeding and Insemination Centre in Karczow. For all ejaculates from each bull the total and mean semen volumes, ejaculate number and their mean volume, sperm concentration amd motility were evaluated. No significant effect of breed on semen quality and quantity was stated. The effect of age on the number and volume of ejaculates was significant. In the third year of bulls' reproductive life the highest sperm concentration and their survival rate was observed.
