Summary:Cereal cyst nematode (CCN) is a widely distributed pest of cereal crops in temperate climate. The most reliable preventive measure is to incorporate genetic resistance into wheat cultivars. The microsatellite marker XGWM 301 mapped 4cM from the diagnostic marker (Crespf/r) and gave 176bp allele for resistant lines. XGWM 301 is highly associated with the presence of Cre3 gene. An attempt was made to utilizing this information for screening wheat (120 cultivars and lines) against cereal cyst nematodes. The results of microsatellite marker XGWM 301 showed allele of 170 bp, the 30 resistant individuals have allele expression whereas in rest of the genotypes the marked allele was absent.
