Summary:A thorough study was carried out to determine the population density, diversity and seasonal variation of rotifers in Jallo Lake for six months fromJuly 2001 - December 2001. The plankton samples were taken monthly usingWisconsin plankton net and the collected samples were stratified by filters ofdifferent mesh size and preserved in 4% formalin. A total of 7 species ofrotifers were identified which were Brachionus angularis, Keratella cochlearis,Asplanchna priodonta, Notommata copeus, Philodina roseola, Lecane elasma andFilinia longiseta. Water samples were also collected monthly to study thephysicochemical parameters. Rotifer population showed positive correlation withtemperature and dissolved oxygen (D.O) while negative correlation with thoseof pH, total hardness, total alkalinity, chloride, calcium, magnesium and carbondioxide.
