Summary: | A comparative study on four promising clones viz. 193-93, 1110-93,1197-93 and 1204-93, against the standard varieties Isd 28 and Isd 29was conducted at seven locations viz, Thakurgaon, Joypurhat, Rajshahi,Pabna, Jamalpur, Sreepur and Chunarughat. Clone I 93-93 produced thehighest number of tiller (278.80 x103 ha-1), followed by I 197-93 (256.80x103 ha-1) and the lowest one was produced in Isd 29 (222.38 x 103 ha-1. The highest number of tiller was produced at Pabna (383.60 x 103 ha-1), followed by Joypurhat (332.40 x 103 ha-1) while the lowest one wasrecorded in Chunarughat (114.20 x 103 ha-1). Clone 193-93 was producedthe highest millable cane (123.20 x 103 ha-1) followed by I 197-93 (101.00x 103 ha-1), while lowest one was recorded in I 110-93 (89.02 x 103 ha-1). The highest millable cane was produced at Jamalpur (129.40 x 103 ha-1) followed by Joypurhat (110.20 x 103 ha-1), whereas the lowest one wasrecorded at Chunarughat (75.69 x 103 ha-1). Maximum individual caneweight was recorded in clone I 197-93 (0.9814 kg) followed by Isd 28(0.9619 kg) but minimum cane weight was recorded in I 93- 93 (0.7993kg). The highest individual cane weight was recorded at Sreepur (1.018kg), followed by Joypurhat (0.9900 kg) and Thakurgaon (0.9394 kg),whereas lowest was found at Chunarughat (0.7358 kg). The clone I 197-93produced the highest cane yield (100.70 t ha-1) followed by I 93-93(94.23 t ha- 1) but the lowest cane yield was recorded in I 110-93 (79.19t ha-1). Among seven locations the highest average cane yield wasrecorded at Jamalpur (109.30 t ha-1) followed by Joypurhat (108.00 t ha-1) irrespective of treatments, while the lowest yield was found atChunarughat (55.02 t ha-1). Maximum brix % was recorded in clone I 93-93 (19.14%) followed by Isd 28 (18.91%) whereas the minimum brix % wasrecorded in I 197-93 (17.06%). Therefore, in respect of cane yield clone I197-93 and I 93-93 appear to be promising for commercial cultivation. |
