Summary:Communication Management is the organized handling of information, resources and strategies in a given situation that would bring about desired changes in a community. The information, education and communication (IEC) of the National FMD Program evolved into a more comprehensive approach that is communication management. It contributed to the success of technical campaigns of the program like vaccination, herd-immunity exercises and the task of reaching the grass root farmers to increase their knowledge about FMD. The components of a communication plan is discussed including its strengths and further needs. The involvement of stakeholders in the planning and implementation of local communication plan is one of the unique features of the National FMD Program's Communication component. This ensures the sustainability of the project and delivery of services
