Summary:The government of the Philippines, assisted by the United Nations Development Programme and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations began the initial phase of an appraisal of the soil and land resources of the country in June, 1974. The specific activities in this paper were undertaken from September to November, 1976, in support of the Government's River Basin Development Program in the area. This paper presents descriptions of physiography, soils and vegetation/land use of the area. It also discusses the erosion occurring in large parts of the survey area. The results of the survey area compiled in a physiographic and soil map at 1:100,000 scale and in a vegetation and land use map of the same scale.
