Summary:In recent years, infrared spectroscopy has been widely used in the identification of organic compounds and complex structures. This study in particular, showed that infrared technique can be used for determining mineral constituents in soils. However, its application is limited in the identification of iron minerals in trivial forms. Seven soil series known to have different chemical and physical properties, were assayed using this technique.
