Summary: | General Combining Ability and Specific Combining Ability effects and genetic variances of days to anthesis, days to silking and ear height, were estimated for 42 single cross hybrids of corn, between seven inbred lines from humid tropical germplasm and six from dry tropical material evaluated in three environments of the mexican tropic. Humid tropical lines (males) contributed more to the variability among hybrids for days to anthesis and silking than dry tropical lines (females), and males by females interaction had the least contribution, indicating broader genetic base in the humid tropical lines and means the humid tropical lines contents a genetic background for better GCA than dry tropical lines.
