Summary:Different agricultural by-productos were pasteurized, and spawned with several strains of Pleurotus ostretus, P. sajorcaju, P. ostreatus sp. cfr. florida, and P. ostreatoroseus. Incubation and fruiting experiments were carried out under different conditions. Ergosterol content in fruit bodies varied from 0.005-0.630% depending on strains, species and external factors studied (light, substrate, and the presence of sodium acetate). The highest value was recorded in fruit bodies grown under daylight conditions, using coffee pulp as substrate
