Summary:The development of market relation in Latvian economy increases the activities in the field of education. Education becomes a special product, and people shall know how to sell and buy it. The ability of graduates to fit into the labour market is an important indicator for the quality of education. Consequently, the education product must meet the labour market requirements. The market research data show that study programmes do not meet the needs of the national economy; a large number of graduates do not work in their field of specialisation. Employers, education institutions and students have different visions of the labour market requirements.
