Summary:The paper presents the most important principles and rules used by the European Union in natural environment protection and in activities on fields of regional policy development. The authors presented the thesis that any ecological problems can not be solved only on local level. There is necessary agreement and reference of cooperation among neighbour regions, primarily on border and ecologically degraded peripheral areas with high natural values what will cause that Poland will posses better contacts with her neighbour countries, above all with Germany.
