Summary: | To investigate the degree of shot berry occurrence in grapes, shoot pinching experiment has been conducted since 1984, using campbell early cultivar trained with wakeman system and "x" training of parreles. The shoots were pinched out 7 leaves above terminal bunch at 5 days before, 7 days after or 14 days after blooming, respectively. As the results show, the degree of shot berry occurrence were not affected by pinching date treatment. But the tree and shoot vigour was closely related to shot berry occurrence i.e. the shoots of too vigorous or too weak produced many shot berries. Carbohydrate content and C/N ratio of shoot were larger, while N and B content was not different, with the semi-vigorous tree that had produced few shot berries |
