Studies on applying the single seed descent method for breeding summer varieties in radish, Raphanus sativus L., 2; heterosis combining ability and correlation from diallel crosses

Five inbred lines developed by the single seed descent method and their 10 F1 hybrids of radish by the half diallel cross were cultivated in summer season. The results of estimated heterosis, combining ability and correlation between 8 characters were summarised as follows. Heterosis was significant...

Summary:Five inbred lines developed by the single seed descent method and their 10 F1 hybrids of radish by the half diallel cross were cultivated in summer season. The results of estimated heterosis, combining ability and correlation between 8 characters were summarised as follows. Heterosis was significant at the 1% level for 6 characters, especially high for root weight (146%), leaf weight (52.6%) and index of virus susceptibility (-51.2%)
