Summary:Based on documents and statistical data, natural factors and soil erosion characteristics on the Loess Plateau in china were reviewed and discussed in this paper. Results show that natural conditions on the Loess Plateau, where high intensity in rainfall, low organic material in soil and low coverness in vegetation are easy to result in soil erosion, Moreover soil erosion on the Loess Plateau is a result of interaction of all natural factors and human beings, especially affected by human activities. It was also indicated that soil erosion can be controlled with reasonable managements, and some indeas and ways to control soil erosion, which have been adopted on the Loess Plateau also were introduced in this paper
