Summary:A new disease of sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus L.) was observed in Okayama Prefecture in 1988. The fungus constantly isolated from stems of symptomatic plants was identified as Verticillium dahliae on the basis of morphological characteristics and pathogenicity. Verticillium rot of sweet pea was proposed for the new disease name.
