A study on convectional phenomena of a dam lake using thermography

Using a thermography (NEC Sanei Co's brand name Thermotracer), convection cells were researched at Kagami Dam Lake from 10, 16 and 20 of December 2003, 8, 14 and 21 of January 2004. By using the observed water surface and vertical distribution of water temperature, meteorological factors, and e...

Summary:Using a thermography (NEC Sanei Co's brand name Thermotracer), convection cells were researched at Kagami Dam Lake from 10, 16 and 20 of December 2003, 8, 14 and 21 of January 2004. By using the observed water surface and vertical distribution of water temperature, meteorological factors, and employing Kimura's vertical one dimensional approach for convection and heat balance-Bowen's ratio Method, sinking discharge per unit area were estimated 1.9-2.7 x 10(-5) m/s.
