Monitoring of cadmium contamination in horses slaughtered in Piedmont

The occurrence of cadmium was measured in the muscle and liver of 40 Italian horses, subdivided into age groups. The livers were found to be the most contaminated. The concentration of this element found in the edible tissue does not represent a health risk for the consumer, revealing normally a reassuring situation, which, however, should be kept under control [E' stata determinata la presenza di cadmio nel muscolo e nel fegato di 40 cavalli italiani, suddivisi in categorie di eta'.
