Summary: | The purpose of the present work was to study in pigeons the exclusion competitive technique which consists in oral administration on 1 day old pigeons of different strains of intestinal microflora, mainly anaerobic. These strains, by saturation of the receptorial sites of the intestinal epithelium, should prevent the precocious colonisation by pathogenic bacteria, especially Salmonella spp. 167 subjects have been treated with a commercial product, while the same number of untreated pigeons have been used as control. At 28 days after the slaughtering, the difference in the isolation of Salmonella between the two groups has been significant. A survey has been carried out with the scanning electronic microscope
