Summary:Band patterns for eleven commercially important mollusc species have been obtained by isoelectric focusing on slabs of polyacrylamide gel. The muscle proteins insoluble in water at pH 5.5. and redissolved in urea and Nonidet P-40 were analyzed. Each band pattern is characteristic of one species either by visual inspection of stained gel or by its densitometric analysis. Therefore the described method can be used to identify mollusc species.
