Summary:In the hybridization method of breeding self fertilized crops, two varieties are crossed, and plants containing combined desirable features of the parents are selected from the segregating progenies. Genetic segregation will begin with the F2 generation, and heterozigosity will be reduced by one half with each succeeding self generation. In these evaluations 143 populations of F2 and 403 populations of other generations (F3-F6) were evaluted. Modified bulk method was used in selection of plants with desired combination of characters in F2-F4 generations. In F5 generation ear to row method was used. In F6 generation in which genetic purity was reached, line selection was done. Among these materials, 120 entries of F2, 138 entries of F3, 84 entries of F4 and 106 plants of F5 were selected. 63 lines of F6 with desirable genetic purity were selected as well, to be evaluated in preliminary yield trial in next crop season. Also 63lines selected among preliminary test materials to be evaluated in advanced trials.
