Vegetation type of Dylaman, a district in Gilan & Mazandaran provinces, is mapped and documented as a result of a comprehensive national project titled "Recognition of Iranian ecological zones". Dylaman area is 1431715 hectare, located on 49°, 30'- 51°, 00'- E and 36°- 37° N. The most populated areas of the district's areFashand, Eshkevarat and Dylaman. 123 On the basis of physiognomy and floristic status of the vegetation, rangelands and forests of the district are segmented into range and forest vegetation types. Results of the study show that the area of Dylaman rangelands and forests is 884416.36 hectares equal to 61.78% of the district's total area. Rangelands and Forests of the district are classified as 67 range and forest vegetation types. Having one dominant species in common, vιgιtation types were put in so called "Plant group" to ease rιalisation of the situation as follows: - Agropyron Plant group has 11 vegetation types and covering about 94893 hectares equal 17.05 % of the total vegetation types. - Artemisia Plant group has 6 vegetation types and covering about 44978 hectares equal 3 % of the total vegetation types. - Astragalus Plant group has 17 vegetation types and covering about 318555 hectares equal 24.6 % of the total vegetation types. - Bromus Plant group has 4 vegetation types and covering about 11327.9 hectares equal 1.8 % of the total vegetation types. - Festuca Plant group has 3 vegetation types and covering about 4072.8 hectares equal 0.8 % of the total vegetation types. - Onobrychis: Plant group has 6 vegetation types and covering About 9809.9 hectares equal 1.72 % of the total vegetation types. - Rosa: Plant group has 2 vegetation types and covering About 6486.5 hectares equal 0.25 % of the total vegetation types Nearly 494554.7 hectares equal to 34.5% of total area is allocated to crops of irrigated and also orchards. Nearly About 18084 hectares equal to 0.013% of total area is allocated to bare rock lands. Nearly About 7720.96 hectares equal to .0053% of total area is allocated to bare lands.
