Summary: | Fluorescent Pseudomonads is a very important group of rhizosphere bacteria with substantial plant growth promoting activities. In this research these bacteria were tested for their ability to enhance growth and yield of potato and accordingly, 40 isolates were isolated and identified. The succeeding isolates were P. fluorescens, P. aeruginosa and P. putida. All 40 isolates were able to produce siderophores and auxin, differing among different species. Accordingly, 9 species of bacteria were selected and their effects on the growth and yield of potato were evaluated for two years under field conditions in the provinces of Tehran, East and West Azarbaijan and Semnan. The results indicated that inoculation of potato with some species of fluorescent Pseudomonads significantly affected the yield, nutrient uptake and starch and protein percentage of tubers. FP-166, FP-35, FP-173 and FP-12 were among the most effective species. |
