Summary:Sulphur element has a major role for improving storeability and taste qualities of onion plants. In this study, the effects of different application rates of sulfur element on the yield, quality and storeability of two onion cultivars, Azarshahr and amp; Gholi gheseh , in Zanjan and Estern Azarbaeijan and, red-ray and white-Ghom cultivars, in alborz proviences were investigated at research stations. For this purpose, treatment were six levels of sulphur ( 0, 50, 100, 150,200 and 250 Kg/ha) and a dual application of 200 Kg/ha sulphur and Thiobacillus. sp with four replications. The results revealed that in Alborz, onion bulb yields and storeability efficiently increased followed by increasing sulphur application up to 200 Kg/ha. Furthermore, there were not any differences in yield production between the two mentioned cultivars. In Zanjan, the statistical data showed that the effects of sulphur on onion quality and quantity were not significant although Azarshahr cultivar had more yield than Gholi- gheseh one. Additionally, sulphur application had no effects on onion storeability of both cultivars although Gholi-gheseh cultivar was better than Azarshahr cultivar in this case. Moreover, in Azarbaeijan, only the storeability of the two cultivars was significantly affected by the kind of cultivar. In Azarbaeijan, the effects of sulphur application on yield, sulphur bulb content and storeability of onion were significant. Finally, sulphur application at the rate of 250 Kg/ha had best effects on onion tested properties
