Summary:In order to evaluating yield and agronomical characteristics of introduced, open-pollinated sunflower varieties, nine OP varieties as well as Record check variety were planted in 8 locations in Iran namely Karaj, Khoy, Islamabad, Sari, Gonbad, Qom, Isfahan and Shahrood, in two successive years of 1382 and 1383. Measurements on grain yield, oil yield, oil percentage, seed weight, plant height, head diameter, growth period were made in all locations. Based on grain yield and its stability, varieties Lakumka and Master with grain yields equal to 3500 and 3100 Kg/ha were better than other varieties, and Berzansky ranked closely after Master. Lakumka had big grains with relatively low oil percentage (42%), while Master and Berzansky had 46% of oil. These 3 varieties were alike for other agronomic traits. Sor, an early variety with a growth period of about 80 days, was the earliest variety even comparing other varieties in other experiments, so it would be applicable for areas with short summers. Favorit had good performance in Gonbad and would be recommended for dryland cultures
