Summary: | In order to study on population fluctuations of Syrphid flies some investigations were performed. Since 2007 in Kermanshah province 4 fields and in west Azarbaijan 4 fields were regarded for sampling. Every time the Syrphid were collected with 100 standard nets on two dimensions of the fields. For the aphids every time 10 plants were evaluated. The results in Kermansha province indicated that at investigated fields 7 Syrphid species were identified. Eupeodes corollae (Fabricus, 1794) was recognized as dominant species in these fields. In west Azarbaijan at investigated fields 5 syrphid flies were found which the E. corollae was also the dominant species. Other Syrphid species were ranked as lower density. Study on population fluctuations of Syrphid flies indicated that these insects had two generations since April (appearance) until July (harvest time). Second generation adults leave these fields at harvest time and immigrate to other crops and green margins of the fields. Study on wheat fields aphids Sitobion avenae (Fabricus, 1794) and Schizaphis graminum Rondan were recognized as dominant species in Kermansha and west Azarbaijan respectively. Their population fluctuations showed that these aphids had one population peak. This stage synchronized with egg and first larval stages of these predators. Therefore Syrphid flies have a noticeable potential for controlling the aphids regarding appropriate temperature, humidity and freshness the fields. |
