Compiling strategic program of agricultural biotechnology

Agricultural biotechnology strategic program compiling committee consisting of representatives of research institutes and centers, and representatives of executive deputies of the Ministry of Jihad-e-Agriculture was formed in 2006. Based on the decision taken by the main committee 6 specific sub-committees including; horticulture plants biotechnology, crop plants biotechnology, animal biotechnology, pharmaceutical plants biotechnology, microbial biotechnology, and natural sources biotechnology were formed for special consideration of subjects. For more information about difficulties and needs of executive and research sections in biotechnology research field a questionnaire was prepared and sent to all executive and research units. All collected information was organized as a data bank to be used as references. The out put of all subcommittees was prepared as a complex and then was discussed by the main committee members in 2007. After considering the members views and suggestions at several stages, the final version of agricultural biotechnology strategic program was presented at Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization and finally approved.
