Summary:Collection, evaluation and characterization of plant germplasms for providing primary genetically materials and use them in breeding programs, is one of the main aims of genebanks. In this project, collection of sesame was done in provinces which there were no any collection or it was incomplete. Base on information of each province and strategy of collection, the collection program was done with two trips. The first trip for identification of locations of the plant and estimation of the sampling time in second trip was considered. The accessions and their passports were transited to Genebank. Accessions were planted and the phonological phases, morphological and physiological characters, flower and capsule, characters of yield and oil percentage were evaluated according to IPGRI descriptors that include 23 characters. Statistical parameters such as average, standard deviation, mode, coefficient of variation and also correlation coefficient between each pair of characters were calculated. Factor analysis has been done. The results showed that 69 accessions were collected, the most accessions 17, from Khozestan and least one, from boshehr province. Also the results showed the time of 50 percentage of capsule forming had 67 days as minimum and 96 days as maximum, it means that it had 29 days range. Days to maturity were between 136 to 156 days, its range was 20 days. In factor analysis, the phonology of flower and characters of grain are the main characters that make difference between accessions and totally showed 63/4 percentage of diversity in the collection. Also considering isolation, the seeds have been regenerated and conserved in genebank cold storage.
