Summary:Because of durum wheat tetraploidy property and limitation of access genetic diversity, durum improvement is rather difficult. Progress in durum wheat breeding depend on making diverse population and top genotypes selection among them. In order to make diversity in durum wheat to preparing possibility of selection high yield varieties with traits such as adaptability to drought , resistance to cold and disease and … . this study carried out during 2003-2004 cropping season at green house of Maragheh agricultural research station. Twenty six different national and internal durum varieties and lines used for parents of crosses. Based on their origin and growth habit the parents evaluated last year. Parents planted in two date with 15 days interval for extending of flowering period.Crossing program completed on three spikes of mother stocks. During crossing program 200 different crosses were made between parents but, finally 151 crosses produced seed. Hybrids seeds collected and named with special number for future studies ( study in segregation population).Because of harsh winter and cold damage and lack of winter snow covering total of F1 ( 207 generations ) seedlings were kield. Key words :Hybridization, Genetic diversity, Durum wheat, Cold dryland area.
