Summary:Mortality pattern in birds received from the 62 small to large private poultry farms and 3 organised poultry farms in and around Nadia district and North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal wre analysed during the period from September 1996 to August 1997. Mortality percentage was calculated on 21000 effective autopsies. The total percentage of mortality was 37.66. The highest mortality in birds was recorded in the age group of 0 to 2 weeks due to unabsorbed yolk sac followed by E. coli infectins, brodder pneumonis and avitaminosis `A' based on necropsy.
