Summary:Growth rate, mortality and food efficiency of the male red and black nile tilapia were tested in 12 concrete tanks of 2 x 5 m at the Balitkanwar experimental station at Cijeruk, Bogor. Red and black nile tilapia of 28.1 g individual weight were stocked at 30 fish/square m and were fed pellet (28 percent crude protein) at 2 percent of body weight per day and fine rice bran (12.5 percent crude protein) at 5 percent of body weight per day; the amount of food were adjusted to the body weight every two weeks. Body weight, number of fish and water quality were checked every two weeks. ANOVA and least significant different statistical analysis showed that the growth rate of the red nile tilapia was better compared to the black nile tilapia, the daily growth rate of red and black nile tilapia being 1.48 percent and 1.38 percent for the fish fed pellet and 0.85 percent and 0.79 percent for the fish fed fine rice bran. Survival rates of the black nile tilapia was better than that of the red nile tilapia. Survival rate of the black nile tilapia and red nile tilapia fed with pellet were 93 percent and 90 percent respectively while that of the fish fed fine rice bran were 93 percent and 87 percent, respectively. The feed efficiency of pellet and fine rice bran for the red nile tilapia and black nile tilapia were 61 percent, 55 percent, 14 percent and 12 percent respectively Uji banding pertumbuhan, mortalitas dan efisiensi pakan antara ikan nila merah dan nila hitam jantan dilakukan dalam 12 buah bak beton 2 x 5 m di Instalasi Kolam Percobaan Balitkanwar Cijeruk Bogor.
