Summary:Dipterocarp wildlings were studied in relation to the necessity of practical recognition or these important species in the field. Some preliminary studies were conducted at Sijunjung production forest, West Sumatra, resulting in the collection of 20 species of dipterocarp wildings and 4 froms of an important species of Shorea parvifolia Dyer. There were about 32 dipterocarps at Sijunjung forest area, 24 percent out of the total number of 135 tree species occurring in this area. Descriptions and illustration of the dipterocarp wildings occurring at Sijunjung production forest are presented. The descriptions include of the leaves, stems or twigs, stipules, stipule scars, and color.
